Tool Book Vol.3 – George Benson Right & Left Hand Techniques (Arpeggios, Scales and other Ideas) & The Secret of the Two Chords
In this book we present a detailed approach of George Benson’s Right & Left Hand Techniques. All the techniques presented have examples of lines where you can apply each of the different techniques (over 40 examples).
The George Benson Method is about how to use the Tools you know, so although triad and tetrad arpeggios are “well known” by every musician, this book treats them very differently in order to make your playing easier and cleaner. In these books you have Triad fingering & picking possibilities and their inversions (more than 100 approaches), Tetrad fingering & picking possibilities (about 60 approaches), and an easy way to visualize and connect Pentatonic Scales and Patterns, such as the Blues Scale, showing you how to play them vertically and horizontally (over 70 examples).
In the Blues Chapter, “A First Step Toward Improvisation,” we give you 48 very simple chorus examples of major & minor blues improvisation with different approaches according to each rhythmic positioning (“Early Notes”, “On the Head” and “Late Notes”). You don’t have to learn all of them at once. Choose the ones you like and enjoy them. Although they look very simple, once you memorize some of them, you will not only be learning notes, but also rhythmic positioning, which is the most important thing if you want to learn how to improvise properly.
Apart from the preset simple chorus ideas, you will learn a very fun exercise that George Benson used to do when he was younger. In order to make this exercise more interesting we will give you the proper tools to start mastering it: 24 major & minor licks. For each one of these licks we give you some options of fingerings & pickings (more than 100 possibilities) which will help you choose the best idea in any situation. To complement this “Blues Introduction” you have the Extended Blues Licks (30 amazing lines) and the Double Stop Licks (18 Licks) chosen by George and Peter. Apart from that, you will learn many chord and harmony possibilities where you can apply these fantastic approaches.
The “Natural Major Scale Application” chapter, with its connection ideas and intervallic patterns (more than 35 examples), will prepare you for the most important chapter: “The Secret of the Two Chords”. In this chapter you will learn the “scale arpeggios” concept and how to build lines using all the material you have learned until now! By the end of the book you will have more than 70 lines (always with indications showing you what type of material we have used in each part of the line, tabs, fingerings & picking notations.)
NOTE: This is an E-Book which means that you will only be able to read it on devices such as computers, cell phones or tablets. We do not offer hard copies because we want to make a difference for the planet.
